The Heart of Healing

My experience with meditative awareness has strongly influenced my practice of Presence-centred Counselling. I focus on ways to be open and accepting of self in the midst of the many complex experiences in one’s life. A healing intention in the counselling process is to develop a resilient response to the difficulties one faces. Sometimes self-judgment, self-blame and self-doubt can block inner resources that are needed in the process of change. Encouraging an awareness that is fully accepting of ‘the way things are’ is essential in order to open the door to true change. It is from this perspective that we can explore letting go of old patterns and cultivating new responses that align with what we want now for ourselves. I offer support and guidance in an accepting and compassionate way.

I have a Masters of Science degree in Counselling Psychology and have been a counsellor since 1981.

Counselling sessions offer a way:
-to gain perspective on one’s life patterns
-to clarify issues and facilitate healing
-to communicate clearly and listen openly
-to develop the skills for well-being
-to cultivate resilience
-to receive support in times of transition

Concerns that can be addressed in counselling include: depression, anxiety and anger; relationship conflicts; the challenges of parenting; the experience of loss and grief; chronic pain, illness and stress.

I offer a counselling process that facilitates self-awareness, self-acceptance, and responsibility for one's own actions and growth. I honour confidentiality. I am skillful at attentive listening and clarity of focus. I deeply respect each person's journey towards total well-being.
